Lancaster City Alliance Important Updates

Ambassador & Clean Team Update

After careful consideration for their health and safety, the Lancaster City Alliance Red Shirt Ambassadors and Blue Shirt Clean Team will not be patrolling the City of Lancaster at this time. We look forward to returning them to the streets soon and for healthier days ahead. We will let you know the moment they are back in action.

How to Stay Safe and Support Lancaster City Small Businesses!

Our friends at the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership shared the following information on how to support local, small businesses. Lancaster City Alliance is sharing their suggestions and have adapted them to Lancaster because we know you are eager to help.

Supporting Your Community
As we all make adjustments to scheduled events, realign our working arrangements, and rethink travel plans, we encourage you to continue to support your favorite small businesses even if you cannot visit them physically.

1. Call to see if your favorite restaurant is offering takeout or delivery, and tip the same amount as you would dining in. Community organizations are pulling together several lists showing what restaurants are doing, see them here and here.

2. Before you make a purchase ask yourself, do they sell it locally, think Easter Candy, bike parts, or household items. Now more than ever buying local is one of the best ways to help your neighbors.

3. You can buy gift cards online for many local restaurants, too.

4. Shop online or via phone. Many retailers have online shopping available, and our local and independent shops will help you get what you need via phone or other methods, if necessary.
Find information and details on a variety of businesses throughout our small business community here.

5. Purchase custom or corporate gifts from retailers who can handle orders over the phone or online.

6. If you typically order wholesale products with local retailers later in the year, place your orders now.

7. If you do not need anything specific at the moment but still want to support local, buy gift cards or certificates to spend later in our various storefront businesses.

8. Share this information so others know how to help.

Please make it a priority to take all health and safety precautions you can to protect yourself and others in our community. Lancaster City depends on community support to thrive and our small businesses are a vital component of our economy year-round. We want to ensure their continued success while maintaining all appropriate public health safety measures. To that end, Lancaster City Alliance Staff will be working remotely but continue to have access to the tools and resources we need to assist the community. Our headquarters at 115 E. King Street will be closed to visitors beginning March 17, 2020.
